Partner
A core tenet of our Firm’s client service philosophy is responsiveness, and Senior Trial Partner Daniel Freidlin takes this ideal to its highest level. Time and time again, his clients characterize him as being accessible, quick to respond, and thoroughly well-prepared. Hospital clients (whose hours are never 9-to-5) regularly find him replying to inquiries and requests almost immediately. A stickler for details, Dan makes a point of knowing all the intricacies of his current cases, and retains a virtually encyclopedic recall of his prior cases.
Defending health care professionals is more than just a job for Dan; he thoroughly enjoys the new challenges each case brings, both from the legal and the medical side. He is motivated and honored by representing those he refers to as “society’s truest heroes.” His practice encompasses all areas of medical malpractice and products liability defense; he is also well-versed in general liability, professional liability, insurance law and electronic discovery. His 21+ years of experience include:
· Extensive defense of health care professionals and hospitals in medical malpractice actions, with emphasis on radiology, OBGYN, neurosurgery, emergency medicine, and hospital malpractice cases.
· Defense of major medical centers in mass tort litigation against claims involving hepatitis C/HIV transmission, neurosurgery, and alleged fraudulent billing.
· Representation of various manufacturers in products liability litigation.
Dan receives high praise from his peers, who continually note his high ethical standards and professionalism. He has been rated AV Preeminent® by Martindale-Hubbell®, their highest rating,* since 2018. Dan has also been selected to the New York Super Lawyers list, earning the respect of his peers as one of the top-rated attorneys in the nation.
He has been published in MD News; Inside Medical Liability magazine; MLMIC’s newsletter, Dateline; and the Firm’s newsletter, Defense Practice Update. He has presented to radiology malpractice programs for Lawline.com; was a guest speaker at Phelps Hospital Grand Rounds Discussion, focusing on OB/GYN; and has served as Research Editor for the Hofstra Law Review at Hofstra University.
Dan serves the Firm in many other important ways, including as Chair of its Publications Committee; as member of its Marketing Committee; and as a lecturer for the Firm’s Continuing Legal Education programs.
