Martin Clearwater & Bell LLP Announces New Partners of the Firm Effective January 1, 2018 – Karen Corbett and Samantha Shaw.
Karen B. Corbettis a seasoned attorney with over 20 years of experience as a defense attorney specializing in all areas of medical malpractice litigation and nursing home negligence. She represents major teaching hospitals, physicians and medical professionals in medical malpractice actions. Karen also has extensive nursing home defense experience and podiatric malpractice experience. She has successfully defended a prominent dental school in New York as well as dentists, oral surgeons, podiatrists, chiropractors, and nurses. Karen received her JD in 1996 from Brooklyn Law School and her BS from St. John's University, cum laude. Karen is admitted to practice before the state courts of New York, as well as the United States District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. She is also an active member of the Nassau County Bar Association.
Samantha E. Shawfocuses her practice on defending our client doctors, physician practice groups, teaching hospitals and premiere academic medical centers in malpractice matters. Throughout her career at the Firm, Samantha has been involved in all aspects of litigation defense, including motion practice, defending depositions and extensive courtroom experience. Samantha also assists with the associate training program at the Firm and serves as a mentor to new associates. Samantha received her B.A. in Psychology and Sociology from New York University in 2006 and her J.D. from Brooklyn Law School in 2009. Samantha currently sits on MCB’s Publication Committee. She is admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey as well as the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York. She is also a member of the New York State Bar Association.
